Cheap, Green, Good.

These recipes are in no way original to me....you can find a dozen like them on the internet.  BUT I’ve tried most of them, and it is really nice to clean the bathroom without needing a gas mask!  Not only are they eco-friendly, they are inexpensive.  I like the 7th Generation liquid detergent because it works well, smells yummy, and is also very affordable.

All-purpose cleaner:
     1/2 t washing soda
     dab liquid detergent
     2 c hot water
1 drop lavender oil (or whatever scent you prefer)
Mix ingredients in a spray bottle.

Soft scrub:
     1/2 c baking soda
enough liquid detergent to make a paste

Toilet bowl cleaner:
1/4 c baking soda with 1 cup vinegar
     or
2 parts borax with 1 part lemon juice

Mold or mildew remover:
     full-strength vinegar or lemon juice

Oven cleaner:
Moisten oven surfaces with water.  Mix 3/4 c baking soda, 1/4 c
salt, and 1/4 c water into a paste. Spread onto oven, and let sit
overnight. Scrape clean with a spatula. Use fine steel wool for
     tough spots.

Carpet & upholstery spot cleaner:
     equal parts vinegar and water

Laundry detergent (powder):
     2 cups borax
2 cups washing (not baking) soda
1 bar fels naptha soap (laundry aisle), grated
Mix together and use 2 Tbsp per load (or just 1 Tbsp for cloth
     diapers).
